Samsung S20 or iPhone 12? What are the differences between the two new models?

Given that the new iPhone appears in November, many people want to know what are the differences between it and the new Samsung S20, recently released. Apple has finally adopted 5G technology with the new iPhone 12 series, even though Samsung has been using this protocol for several months. What are the differences between the two models? We tested the Samsung S20 and, even if the iPhone 12 is still in the making, we can make an analysis based on the features that have been announced.

To simplify things, we opted for a direct comparison between the standard iPhone 12 vs Samsung Galaxy S20 models, without including the mini or Pro models. Here's what you need to know:

Shape and size

The two phones look similar, although the S20 is only slightly wider, longer and thicker. They have a similar weight (165g), with only 1 gram difference between them.

Both phones have an aluminum structure, which benefits from IP68 (they can be dropped in slightly deep water and last up to 30 minutes). While Apple has opted for a "sandwich" design, Samsung has rounded edges, as we are used to. There is a wide color palette available for both models.

Hardware

For the first time in a while, Apple comes with a more powerful model, with the new A14 bionic chip under the "hood". Even the older version of the chip, the A13, present on the Iphone 11 Pro, surpassed the Qualcomm 865 performance of the S20 model, so the new iPhone 12 will probably be even faster!

Display

Although the Iphone 12 will have a high processing power, it is possible that the S20 will have an advantage in terms of display. Both phones have an OLED display, which renders colors in a remarkable way and has an incredible contrast, but the S20 has a better resolution. The 6.2-inch screen with a resolution of 3200X1440 brings more clarity than the 6.1-inch display, with a resolution of 2530 by 1170. The S20 display also supports a rehresh rate of 120Hz, which leads to a never fine scroll.

Camera

Apple has made significant progress in this regard, but the most powerful cameras will be installed only on the Pro and Pro Max models. The standard Iphone12 variant will have a 12MP dual camera on the back, with a wide lens with an aperture of f / 1.6, respectively an ultrawide lens with an aperture of f / 2.4. On the side with the screen there will be a TrueDepth camera for selfies, 12MP and with an aperture of f / 2.2.

Samsung Galaxy S20 has a similar set of cameras, with a set of wide and ultrawide lenses of f / 1.8 and f / 2.2 on the back, along with a 10MP f / 2.2 camera for selfies. At the same time, Samsung also has a 64MP f / 2.0 telephoto camera, which can only be found on iPhone 12 Pro models.

As you can see, the features do not differ much between the two mobile phone giants! However, we will have to wait patiently until the appearance of the new iPhone 12 model, to see exactly what the pros and cons of the model are.
